The Soft Landing Group: Somatic Skills & Safe and Sound Protocol
What is the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)?
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a powerful listening-based intervention developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, grounded in Polyvagal Theory. SSP uses specially filtered music to gently retrain the nervous system, supporting feelings of safety, connection, and regulation. It’s a non-invasive, evidence-based tool designed to reduce sound sensitivities, improve social engagement, and build resilience in the face of stress, trauma, or chronic health challenges.
This group may be supportive if you:
Often feel anxious, shut down, or stuck in cycles of hypervigilance or freeze
Live with chronic illness, pain, or fatigue that doesn’t seem to respond to logic or willpower
Have a history of trauma (developmental, medical, relational, or other)
Struggle to feel safe in your body or with other people
Experience sensory sensitivity or emotional overwhelm
Find traditional talk therapy helpful but not quite enough
Are looking for a body-first, slow, and supported approach to healing
No prior experience with somatics, therapy, or SSP is required — just a willingness to explore at your own pace, with care and curiosity.
This group may not be the right fit if:
You are in acute crisis or experiencing active suicidal ideation (please seek 1:1 professional support first)
You are currently unmedicated and navigating unmanaged psychosis or mania
You have no current support system in place (such as a therapist, coach, or trusted person to check in with)
You’re seeking fast results or a “quick fix”
You’re unable to access a quiet, private space for listening to the music without interruption
You prefer working 1:1 — if so, individual SSP may be a better fit for you
If you’re unsure, I offer free consults to help assess readiness and fit.
